Welcome!

Welcome to our blog about Let's Do Lunch!, a brand new effort from two 2014 Indiana Library Leadership Academy members, Lauri Chandler and Katie Springer.

The Problem
Many kids have access to food through school, but may not have as much access at home. When school is out for the summer, this creates a tough situation for families who rely on school subsidized meal programs.

The Solution
Libraries can partner with food service agencies, local government agencies like the Parks Deparment, and other community organizations to help ensure kids have access to lunch when school's out for the summer.

So, we're on a mission to educate libraries about the important role they can play in filling a hunger gap for children during the summer, and to help them get started in coordinating this service for their communities.

Please take a look at our website as it develops, and feel free to submit comments through our blog!
